Heinz The Shard London 2017

Walkers is opening a ‘speakeasy style’ crisp sandwich cafe hidden inside a newsagents August 2017

Walkers has cottoned onto how much people love making sandwiches out of their crisps, to to help launch a series of new flavours, they're launching a pop-up Crisp Sarnie cafe in Tooley Street, near to London Bridge.  It works a bit like a speakeasy - the cafe is hidden behind a rack of crisps in Chris Peter’s Newsagent at 112/114 Tooley Street - once the secret door opens you can go through to enjoy the crisp sandwiches.

Artist Orla Walsh who is famed for her Heinz Ketchup Paintings was delighted to have her stunning artwork on the walls for this unique event.

"The idea behind Ellie O'Phant was to create an image that was totally unique to Ireland and also to rekindle some nostalgia for our irish culture. The first image was the telephone box and the second was the irish post box both set in a rural irish scene. When first introduced, the phone box and post box were the means of communication in irish society and first links with the outside world. The box is now nearly extinct in Ireland and I wanted to revive its image and give it life again. Ellie will hopefully connect with the hearts of the irish people, help raise awareness and support for Elephant conservation."

A little information about my pig!. Pop Art is about challenging the traditions of fine art and this pig presents lots of challenges of his own. POP pig is a little unsure of who he is with zebra stripes and speech bubbles saying 'moo' and 'baa'. But he has a little sense of optimism in knowing he can be anything he want to be. POP pig is brash, young and fun.
